The Lake District is one of the most beautiful regions in the United Kingdom and as such holds a special place in the heart of many landscape photographers. Glassy lakes sheltered by towering fells, tumbling rivers and waterfalls, beautiful woodland, dramatic mountain passes - the Lakes has much to offer in such a small area, and provides a wonderful natural canvas on which to work. When the light is right, nowhere else is quite like it.
Based in the Eltermere Country House Hotel near Ambleside (www.eltermere.co.uk), we will be perfectly situated to photograph many of the star locations of the region, including Derwentwater, perhaps the most photogenic of all the English lakes, Rydal Water and Grasmere, Loughrigg Tarn, Ullswater, Castlerigg Stone Circle, Buttermere and more.
The workshop begins on the evening of the 2nd when you will meet Lee for pre-dinner drinks. After a dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, Lee will show examples of his work. The next three days will then be dedicated to intensive landscape photography. Each morning there will be a chance to take photographs with Lee at dawn (optional if you prefer a lie-in) then after breakfast the group will head off for the day to visit a range of locations, before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Lee knows the Lake district well and so you can be sure of being in the right place at the right time to make the most of the light. He will also be on hand at all times to offer help and advice.
