PHOTO ADVENTURES Photo
Adventures was founded by Lee Frost and Julie Frost in 2001 to offer
photographers of all ages and levels of ability the chance to indulge
their passion for picture-taking in some of the world’s most
inspiring locations.
The most difficult aspect of travel and landcape photography is
knowing where to go to find the most photogenic scenes and subjects
and when to be there to make the most of the light.
By joining
a Photo Adventures workshop or holiday, all the hard work is done
for you because Lee personally plans and organises all trips himself
so that he can take you to the best places at the right time of
day. All you have to do is take out your camera and capture it on
film, with Lee on hand to offer help and advice whenever it’s
needed.
Emphasis is always placed on photography, so you will never have
to leave a location when there are still great pictures to be taken
just so you can be back at the hotel in time for dinner, or miss
the best light of the day in favour of a lie-in. You can do that
any time!
No matter
how short or long a trip is, the format remains the same –
those of you who wish to rise early and be out for dawn are given
the opportunity to do so. We then return to base for a well-earned
breakfast before heading off for the rest of the day to visit more
locations and take more pictures.
On UK trips we take packed lunches with us; on overseas trips we
may have a picnic lunch while on location or take a break and visit
a restaurant. Once the day’s photography is finally over we
return to base once more for a relaxing dinner. On all UK trips
and some overseas trips we look at pictures in the evenings –
Lee brings along examples of his own work, and encourages group
members to bring theirs.
In the
UK and on shorter overseas trips we stay in the same hotel; each
one carefully chosen by Lee so it’s well-situated for our
daily forays. On longer overseas trips we travel greater distances
and so stay in different hotels. We work on the basis that our clients
join trips as individuals and therefore want their own room so we
do not charge a single room supplement and with only the very rare
exception you will be allocated a room for single occupancy.
The cost of UK trips is fully inclusive – the only things
you have to pay for once you arrive at the hotel are drinks from
the bar and other extras such as telephone calls and newspapers.
All meals, accomodation, transport and tuition are covered.
Overseas trips differ depending on the destination. Flights are
generally excluded from the cost, while meals may or may not be
included. This information will be provided in the profile for a
particular trip so there can be no confusion about your you are
and are not paying for. As a trip approaches, having booked a place
on it you will also be provided with notes giving advice on equipment,
clothing and anything else that is relevent, as well as an itinerary
detailing where each day will take you.
Chances
are at this stage you may be unsure of booking because you won’t
know anyone. If that’s the case, don’t worry –
the vast majority of other people attending will be in exactly the
same boat. This doesn’t last for long though, because a mutual
love of photography breaks down any barriers and we’re always
amazed by just how well everyone gets on within minutes of meeting
- and how many go home at the end of the Photo Adventures holiday
having made countless new friends.
